Being a kid again comes at a hefty price. I'm not talking about plastic surgery I'm talking about something else that is plastic....Toys. I would see release after release of The Masterpiece series Developed by Takara. First Optimus. Then Ultra Magnus. Starscream, Megatron, Skywarp and one by one I seen hefty price tags of $150 and above come with each of them. Yes they are pretty much fully articulated and you can pose them in any animated way but is it worth it. A few months ago my favorite transformer was released as a masterpiece figure. MP-13 Soundwave. He was released with laser beak. A replica megatron gun. Energon cubes. My head was spinning. The next releases would be more of the casettes. Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy and Buzzsaw. I found myself putting all of these in a cart online and seeing the final price to be almost $400 dollars. My dream was crushed. I was not spending that much for some toys. Fast Forward to about a month ago. Toys R Us releases a American Masterpiece of Soundwave with all the cassettes for $119. Now that sounds about right. I wound up getting him finally and he proudly sits on my shelf with me constantly admiring him and reposing him every so often. I feel like I'm 10 years old again every time I glance in his direction. I know Masters of the Universe also has the classics line which go for about 50 bucks a pop. and I think they started doing a classic TMNT line. Star Wars has the Black line. GI Joe even has a line of figures. Toy companies really know how too suck money out of a fan boys pocket.
