It was a exceptional day for me in my former stomping grounds. I went down to my old job that wasn't in the same location but it was still a throwback. Lee Springs was my first official job out of high school. I think I worked there for about 5 years if I remember correctly. Even though the new location downsized and I only knew about 9 people that still work there it felt like I never left the company. After my few hour visit there I headed down to Red hook to hang out at Pegasus Productions with another former Coworker. This was the last job that I worked at for 9 years of my life and I quickly realized that nothing changed with the work ethics of the workers. My friend Dom was left there all alone to unload a bunch of heavy ass stages by himself. Meanwhile he was supposed to have a bunch of people come down including my old boss to help him. It wasn't fun to do but we got them off the truck and into the shop. What this called for was a free meal on the company credit card so we went to a place that Dom said was incredible.
Korzo was this restaurant that Dom seen on the travel channel saying they had one of the best burgers. It is this small little bar/restaurant in park slope (667 5th Ave between 19th and 20th street) with just a small little chalkboard sign outside basically letting you know it was Korzo. Upon walking inside it had a nice little bar and some tables up front and also in the back. Very dimmed lighting giving it a lounge feel. They are known for their Fried Burgers even though I opted for the Vegetarian option because it sounded so unique."The Bklyn Beet" Roasted beet, Walnut, Black Eyed Pea patty with Baby Gouda, Caramelized onions, Pickled something and dressed greens. Oh my damn lord my mouth is still drooling from it. I also didn't mention they had a nice homemade beet Ketchup and a homemade hot sauce which had a sriracha taste to it. We also got a side of Halusky fries something that I never had before. Little potato crunchy nuggets almost tasting like potato pancakes.
All in all probably one of the best days on my vacation in the motherland so far for me. Not planning on much more to do down here but relax and maybe hit up the thai place I love to eat at.
